Our thoughts are with the forest fire evacuees who have found themselves in our community. Let's do our part to make them welcome and provide what comforts we can. Sole Savers was able to deliver approximately 70 pairs of shoes from our shoe drive to Jewel's used clothing store in Smith's Falls today. Jewel's is coordinating provision of much needed clothing to the evacuees. PLease help if you can by donating to Jewel's on William Street in Smiths Falls.

New Chiropodist
Sole Savers is pleased to announce that we have a new staff member starting in July. Welcome to Brian Byung-Hyuk Woo BSc., D.Ch. our new Chiropodist. Brian has a strong background in kinesiology and sports injuries. He will be working at Body and Sole Health Centre with us on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Sole Savers packed up 150 pairs of lightly used shoes today to send to Soles4souls.org charity. Many will probably go to Japan. We still have a few more to sort and pack. Foot Health Month!

Grand Opening!
Body and Sole Health Centre, the new home of Sole Savers in Kemptville, was delighted to host a Grand Opening Party today. Many thanks to Mayor David Gordon for attending and helping with the official ribbon cutting ceremony. Thanks to all those who came out to help us celebrate, despite the cold rainy April weather. The uplifting tunes from Maplewood Ceilidh Band, good company and tasty food from Brewed Awakenings helped us forget about the dreary weather outside!
Many thanks to all those who donated shoes for our favorite charity Soles4Souls (soles4souls.org). Over the last few weeks we have collected over 200 pairs of shoes. Special thanks go to the students and staff of South Branch Elementary school who ran a shoe drive at the school.
Our door prize winner was delighted with a gift certificate from the Branch restaurant. Watch this space for more photos later.

Grand Opening Party!
Sole Savers opened our doors March 2nd, at Body and Sole Health Centre, 212 Van Buren Street in Kemptville, Ontario. We will be hosting a Grand Opening Party on Saturday April 16th 10am-2pm. Everyone welcome. We will have refreshments and Mayor David Gordon will be in attendance to do the official ribbon cutting at 12:30. We will also have music by the Maplewood Celidh band between 1 and 2pm.
Visitors to the Grand Opening are encouraged to bring lightly used shoes or a twoonie donation for the charity Soles4Souls. The donated shoes will be shipped to areas experiencing ecconomic hardship or natural disasters, such as the earthquakes in Haiti and Japan. You can check out their website at: soles4souls.org

Sole Savers New Location
We are getting closer to setting our opening date. We hope to have a Grand Opening Party, and will be hosting a shoe drive for Soles4Souls http://www.soles4souls.org/
Soles4Souls collects and distributes footwear to those who desperately need it. For example, after a tsunami, hurricane or earthquake hits and large numbers of people loose everything, and have to walk through debris-littered areas. As well as getting shoes to those who need them, this also keeps discarded shoes out of the landfills.
We will be collecting gently used shoes and shipping them to the Soles4Souls warehouse in Alabama. Those who would like to help can donate footwear or donate one or two dollars to help towards shipping costs.
